Zach & Jennifer

As Jamie Lee Curtis said, "We look at adoption as a very sacred exchange. It is not done lightly on either side. I would dedicate my life to this child." We are so grateful you are taking the time to read our profile. Being chosen to be your child's parents would make us the happiest people in the world. Thank you for considering us and we look forward to this journey.

Cultural Diversity

Hoping to Adopt

We are so excited to become parents, and look forward to incorporating our child's heritage into our lives!

We believe knowing where you came from is important. At a young age we plan to address cultural diversity with dolls, books, and participating in the traditions of the child's culture.

One of the reasons we are excited about an open adoption is the ability to talk to the birth mother. She can tell us what is important that her child know about her and her culture.

We plan to bring the child around our friends who share the child's cultural heritage. If we don't have friends in the child's culture, we will make friends with people in that culture.

We promise to be open to a child's questions and willing to have discussions about race and culture. Although we aren't religious, we are also open to our child being able to practice any religion they choose.

It is important for us to continue our own education about diversity throughout our lives. Something as small as how to do a child's hair or what they eat can be very important to how a child fits in. We know there would be a lot to learn about raising a child who doesn't look exactly like us. But we are ready to learn.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

A Day Out Together

Zack About Jennifer: I admire Jen's devotion to making our house a great home. She feeds the deer in our neighborhood every day so that they will hang out in our yard. She is devoted to making our home beautiful. She designed our beautiful patio space so we can spend time together outside. I love her sense of humor and her devotion to making our life fun. Jen is always smiling and laughing. I respect her response to stress. When she is faced with tough times she knows exactly what to do. She always has a good plan. I think it is partially just her nature, but also from years of being a critical care and hospice nurse.

Jennifer About Zach: I love that when Zach sets his mind to something, he is going to do it. For example, during lockdown he decided he wanted to run a marathon. Less than a year of training, and he did it. I respect his courage. He has no trouble giving speeches in front of large amount of people. He isn't scared when doing emergency surgeries when a baby is in trouble. I admire his ability to make everyone around him comfortable. People are drawn to him and love being around him.

Our Pets

Moby

There would be no way for us to be able to write this much about ourselves without including something about our pets!

Our oldest pet is 17-year-old Moby. He is a huge white Norwegian forest cat. He isn't like most cats. He never wants to be alone, he's very clumsy and, he absolutely has no interest in a ball of yarn. Moby is most happy with one paw on Jen while taking a nap.

Maggie

Maggie is half weenie dog half Pomeranian. Jennifer got her from a roommate in college. She is almost 16. Maggie is spunky and very smart. Although she went deaf a few years ago, she hasn't let it hold her back. Even as an old lady she still gets the zoomies for her dinner.

Phoebe is our new Golden Retriever puppy. She's growing so fast and can't quite figure out her size. She gets stuck in spaces that she could fit in just a week before. She loves playing with our god-daughter. You will never see anything cuter than a toddler and Phoebe cuddled up for a nap.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in San Marcos, Texas. It is a small city, 35 minutes between Austin and San Antonio. It is a culturally diverse town. It has a beautiful clear river that is a popular vacation spot in the summer. There are many beautiful parks, restaurants, and the Wonder World Cave.

Our neighborhood is unique. Each house sits on over an acre and each house is different from the other. There are hundreds of deer that live here. Jennifer has even trained a few deer families to come running when she puts food out for them. It is a very family friendly, sought after, and safe community.

Our house is a special place to us. It has three large bedrooms, a media room, an art studio and a open kitchen and living area. We have a cute nursery that already has everything a baby could need. We have a garden and small vineyard. We have a cozy outdoor fireplace for s'mores. Our favorite place in our whole home is our back porch. There is seating area, outdoor kitchen, smoker and a TV for entertaining.

We have tried to make our home a desirable place for family and friends. A place where is OK to spill and be loud. A place for laughter and a great meal.

Our Extended Families

Thanksgiving With Family

We have a close family. Zach's parents, Jen's dad, and her sister always come to our house for Christmas. Jen plans dinner and "Christmas Olympics" for the family. We have games like Christmas trivia and challenges like see who can fit the most marshmallows in their mouth. The winner gets a trophy. Zach wants everyone to know that his team won this year.

Everyone in the family knows we are pursuing adoption and they ask us when we are getting a baby. This child will be the first grandchild - the center of everyone's world. Zach's parents and Jen's dad are a few hours away but are moving close when we get a child. They want to be at every sporting event and recital.

Christmas Olympics Winners

Jen's dad is her cooking partner. He comes once a month to try out a new recipe. Zach's parents love shopping, watching movies, and they are obsessed with their two dogs.

Our extended family - cousins and aunts/uncles - have many children. On Thanksgiving, about 50 of us go to my uncle's ranch. There are plenty of other kids to play with. Some members of our family were also adopted!

Jen's sister lives close. At Halloween, she throws a costume party, and we usually go overboard. Last year we were an astronaut and an alien! It would be fun to have a kiddo to dress up with us.

We could not think of a better family for a child to grow up around.

From Us to You

We want to thank you for reading our profile. For looking at our pictures. For watching our video. For even considering us.

We don't know what to write to make you choose us. But we hope you do. We have been together for 17 years and married for almost 10. Jennifer wants to be a mom and Zach wants to be a dad. A few years ago, Jen quit her job as a hospice nurse to take care of her sick mother. After her mother passed away, she decided to put her focus on being a full-time mom. When the pandemic hit, she saw an opportunity to help our friends with childcare (most daycares closed). She spent different months taking care of Blake and Sonia and Aiden. We have a colorful nursery, stroller, crib, toys etc for the babies when they stay with us. We also decided to go all out on the nursery because we wanted to adopt a child of our own.

But like every home that is preparing for a baby, our life doesn't stop while we wait. We actually like doing home projects together; we have gotten pretty good at it. Our hobbies help-Zach is a woodworker and Jen is an artist. We are homebodies most of the time. We love movie nights and cooking. We enjoy shopping and going to visit friends. We love taking our dogs to the park. We go on vacations a couple times a year. And we would love to bring a child along with us. Our favorite hobby is probably just trying to make each other laugh.

Zach have devoted his life to being a doctor for women, an OB/GYN. He performs surgeries for female problems, take care of pregnant patients, and delivers babies. Patient's keep coming back to him because he makes them feel safe and taken care of. Jennifer was a critical care nurse and then a hospice nurse for ten years. She has a special talent for comforting and nurturing people, especially in times of need. Hospice requires a lot of teaching which Jennifer also has a talent for.

We can offer a child a safe, cozy, consistent, and loving home. Parents who are best friends. Parents who are at their happiest hanging at home with their family. Parents who are goofballs. Parents who will dedicate the rest of their lives to giving a child every opportunity. Parents who will always support them. Parents who love them now even though they haven't even met yet.

If we are chosen, we would love to know more about you and your family. We are seeking an open adoption, if you're interested in that. We would love to have your email to send photos and updates throughout the years. We are also open to having visits and phone calls with you. You will always be our child's birth mother and that's something we would never take for granted.

We know deciding to place your child up for adoption was a terribly difficult decision. We are sure it is scary to not know if you're picking the right family. All we can say is that we are a safe choice. We know we will be together forever, and our future child's well-being will be the most important thing in our whole life.

We thank you so much for taking time to learn about us,

Zach & Jennifer
