To us, being parents means that we love, provide for, and protect our children. It is our duty to nurture and care for a child in such a way that they are set up to achieve their full potential in life. As parents we create a loving environment for a child to grow and prosper. Every family is a team and works together, but at the same time we recognize every child is a unique individual. As parents we have the privilege of inspiring them to do what is right and teaching them to turn away from what is wrong and learn from their mistakes.

We are most looking forward to all the memories we will make as a family and the joy that a child will bring. We can only imagine all the laughter and happiness that will come from having a new addition to our family. We look forward to the responsibility it is to care for a child, and we take that responsibility very seriously. It will be so wonderful to be a part of shaping our child’s life and watching them grow into the person they were made to be!

We met our junior year of college at CU Boulder. We had the same friend group, so we would see each other at study groups, friends’ houses, and church events almost every week. One of Melanie’s first memories of Luke was seeing a goofy picture of him that began to circulate around their friend group. She has always enjoyed how Luke can make her laugh, even to this day.

We graduated college together and ended up working the same job as well. As Luke’s feelings for Melanie grew he found himself trying to impress her more and more, sometimes leading to embarrassing moments! Over time we fell in love, and our love has only grown stronger each and every day.

When Luke proposed to Melanie it felt like something from a movie. After he got down on one knee and she said yes, he started to put the ring on her finger. Right then a beam of sunlight came through the clouds and hit the diamond. It scattered the light and there were sparkles of sunlight all around us. We have always treasured this moment in our hearts.

I love Melanie for her loyalty and faithfulness. I can always count on her and she is always looking for ways to make my life better. She is a sincere and caring person to everyone around her. I love how Melanie has a hope in her heart that all things in life will turn out for good. She carries life everywhere she goes and this really creates a joyful atmosphere in our house. I see how she interacts with our friend's children and how much she loves them, and I know she will be the most incredible mother.

Luke About Melanie

There are a lot of things that I love about Luke. I love how he is very grounded and kind towards everyone. I love how he has great character and always tries to do the right thing. He is an amazing example of what a husband and father should be. I enjoy how Luke makes me laugh and loves to have a good time. I love how our personalities complement each other and how he makes me a better person!

Luke's parents live an hour drive away and we spend a lot of time with them. They have been so supportive of us adopting and they can't wait to welcome a grandchild into the family. Luke's sister and her husband live in Wisconsin, but they visit Colorado frequently. They have a young daughter who absolutely loves Luke. She is always asking for him and wanting to spend time with him.

Luke’s parents are very active, and we love going on hikes or playing pickle ball together. They also belong to a private lake nearby where we spend time boating and waterskiing. Melanie's parents live in California, but when they visit Colorado they love to take us out to nice restaurants. A good steakhouse is one of our favorites.

We also have several close friends with young children who live within a 10 minute drive of us. These friends are practically family and we are always finding an excuse to get together. We love seeing them, and they are a big part of our lives.

Christmas is a fun family tradition for us. We decorate our entire house and we love going to the mountains to cut down a Christmas tree as well. On Christmas we typically spend the day just the two of us, and then we usually spend a couple days in the mountains with Luke’s family enjoying the snow!

We purchased our first house a few years ago in a town in northern Colorado. It has been a great place to live and we can't wait to raise a child here. We love doing handy work and we enjoy having a house project to work on each year. We are currently working on raised garden beds for our backyard.

Our neighborhood and community are very family friendly. There are aspects of our community that give it a small town feel, which we really like. Each year there is a summer festival called chainsaws and chuck wagons. The events is a few days long and includes a parade, free food, as well as live chainsaw carving. Chainsaw craftsmen come from across the country and carve sculptures out of wood, and their work is auctioned off at the end of the night.

There are parks all over our neighborhood and one just down the street from our house. The community rec center is being renovated and expanded and includes a large indoor area for exercise and swimming.

We first met 13 years ago, and we have been married for 9 years. We met in college and we were close friends before getting married. The things we have walked through together in life since then have brought us closer together. Family is a priority in our lives and we are committed and devoted to one another, making sure our marriage is strong. We believe that the health and wellness of our family should come before other responsibilities. Our love for one another has grown more and more over the years, and we know that this will overflow into the life of this child and provide a loving and secure home for them to grow up in.

We have always had the desire in our hearts to have children. As we struggled to have children naturally, we really began to reflect and consider what the next steps were to grow our family. We have a few friends who have adopted, and it is so amazing to see how wonderful their children are and how happy the families are together. We became confident and believe with all our hearts that adoption is the way we are supposed to start our family.

We have so much love in our hearts that we are excited to share with a child. We can’t wait for the adventures and memories that we will have together. We look forward to being a part of shaping a child’s life, but we also look forward to how a child will change us. It is a privilege to us to love, protect, and provide for a child, and you can be confident that we will uphold this commitment and responsibility. Family is so important to us, and we will really cherish quality family time together. Melanie will immediately transition to being a full-time stay-at-home mom, and Luke has flexible work hours to spend a lot of time with the family as well.

Our faith in God as Christians is very important to us and shapes how we live our lives. Our goal is to love God and love others as ourselves. We believe that children are a gift from God, that they are unique and have their own purpose to fulfill. It is our duty as parents to love and prepare them for their future. Please know that we will raise this child to do what is right and to be a sincere and honest person. As we provide for this child, they can then grow up to be someone capable of succeeding and loving those around them.

We imagine that adoption would be a difficult decision for any mother. We would like you to know that we are fully committed to being the best parents we can be. As we share with this child about their adoption, we will always ensure that they know that they have always been loved and that their adoption is evidence of that love.
