Nick & Debbie
We want to thank you with all of our hearts, for taking the time to learn about our family as you navigate this important decision. Our wish is that you see our family's ability to live life to the fullest, with love laughter, and adventures! We hope that you consider us as you make this difficult decision on who you would like to parent your child. Wishing you well on this journey!
Our Child

We have one daughter who blessed us through adoption a few years ago. She is a fun loving toddler who enjoys everything about life. She is very adaptable and willing to go on most adventures. We always wondered how she would handle going camping or for hikes in difference climates, but every time she goes on an adventure she amazes us with her resilience and her love to do it again.

She loves to play with her baby dolls and stuffies, dressing them and feeding them. Whenever we see a baby out in public she has to meet them! She says "Baby!" She enjoys taking care our her fur brothers, feeding them and making sure they have water as well as taking them outside to run and play. We believe she will make an amazing older sister for she is kind, attentive and loving to other kids, her pups and her family!
Our Cultural Heritage
We have the same cultural heritage background of Scandinavian and German heritage. We celebrate our heritage mostly through the holidays and food. This would include making lefse, rommegrot and krumkake when the holidays are around. Mostly things that are made of flour, butter, and sugar! Otherwise, we mostly describe our heritage as Minnesotan. We love the culture that Minnesota brings, from enjoying the winter activities, to being able to say hello to the stranger on the street. We get together with both sides of our families for the holidays and just enjoy good food and quality time together. No matter what heritage we are, our goal in life is to be the best people we can be, treating everyone with equality and respecting everyone.
This is how we want to raise our children to be, compassionate and humble people who treat everyone well, and with respect including themselves. We understand growing up in America as a child of different ethnicity has many challenges and we are fully committed to advocate and be there for our future child. We may not have all the answers, but we promise to continue educating ourselves in new and great ways to teach your child and help them understand where they come from.
Our Leisure Time

Our family loves to be outdoors. Together we enjoy hiking in state parks, prairies, camping, and fishing all over Minnesota. It is our goal to camp at every state park in Minnesota. Slowly but surely we are making that happen! On our hikes we all enjoying bird watching, Arbor is getting quite good at identifying different birds and animals and their sounds, its fascinating to watch her learn and grow so fast! We enjoy working in our yard in which we are working on trying to convert some into a wild prairie to support the wild life. This is a passion of ours, to help the environment the best we can. On our adventures Deb enjoys capturing the beauty of nature as well as our family. Taking pictures of the moments we will remember forever is everything to her. Deb also enjoys crocheting and cooking for her family and friends. If you ask her to make a pasta she will never say no! Nick likes to learn about new things and is very good at fixing anything. He loves to learn, you can find him reading a history book, learning about plants or working in our wild flower garden we are creating in our yard educating himself on the best ways support the environment. We have been enjoying teaching Arbor all we know and are excited to teach our next future child as well.

Our Extended Families

One of the greatest blessing in our life is our family. Nick has two brothers and Deb has one sister. Although all of our nieces and nephews live over 4 hours away or in Alaska, we try to stay in contact with them often. When we do get to visit Deb's family, we like to enjoy quality time together by cooking playing games, watching a good movie and going for walks. We are blessed to live just down the road from Nick's parents so we get to see them almost daily. When we do go there, we love to go see the horses, cows and pet the barn kittens. They have a small farm so it is fun to get outside, sit by the fire and enjoy the outdoors while planning fetch with the dogs. Family time is everything! Some family traditions we have created are we do Sunday evening dinners with Nick's family. One tradition that we love the most is going and picking out our Christmas tree after Thanksgiving and putting it up that night. It is even more enjoyable we can share it with our daughter. We cannot wait to create new memories with the addition of a child/sibling! Our family is so very excited and supportive of us and cannot wait to welcome another bundle of joy into their lives!

Our House and Neighborhood

We live in beautiful small town in rural Minnesota. Our home is in the country, four miles north of town and only 1/4 mile down the road from Nick's parents. Our community is the perfect combination of farmland, woods, rolling hills and many lakes just minutes away! Our home is 4 bedroom, 2 bath green rambler with a finished basement and is on an acre plot of land. Our upstairs is an open concept with two rooms upstairs and two downstairs. The nursery will be in our daughters room in which is right next to ours, on the main floor. We are surrounded by beautiful nature such as a large pasture with grazing cows, fields of corn at harvest, deep woods, and an large valley that we go exploring in.
Our neighborhood has many young families making their roots here. There are multiple local elementary schools in town and parks to play at. Our community is surrounded by many lakes giving easy access to boating, swimming and fishing. We are fortunate to have a prairie learning center in town where kids can go to learn about nature and wildlife as well as a Children's museum where young kids can explore learning through playing with others, creating art and exploring their imagination. In June there is Summerfest with activities such as parades, fireworks, library walks, and water wars. In December families enjoy Over the River Holiday Festival throughout downtown!

We hope that learning more about us will give you a sense of peace as you consider adoption for your child. You have so much courage and strength to be considering this journey and this is something that if you choose to pursue, will never be forgotten and your child will always know the love you have for them.
A little bit about us: Through many years we tried to have children, after 5 years of infertility we found ourselves on the beginning journey of years of loss. We lost three sons from pregnancy and infant loss in a span of three years. After the loss of our first son we had a new lens to look through of the world it taught us that life is too short and that if you want something you should go for it, and the thing we wanted most was to be parents. Adoption has always been a path we knew we were meant to take. However, we knew that it was the time to start the journey. The journey was bumpy and we found we lost two more sons. Then finally light was shown to us, and we were chosen to be the parents to our daughter Arbor. Through all the darkness we always knew there was a light, and that was the day we met our daughter, a day we will never forget. We cherish her everyday! The journey to our daughter is what has given us the desire to adopt again. We feel that the only way we want to build our family is the way that our daughter came to us. We are excited to be on this journey to grow our family again!
Our journey to find each other was nothing short of meant to be! We met about 10 years ago through a mutual friend up in northern Minnesota where we both worked straight out of college. We got married on October 8, 2016 on a beautiful fall day standing in cornfields to get good photos! Deb was raised Catholic and Nick Lutheran however, together we attend a Lutheran church. We believe that God is not only in a church but everywhere and we hope to guide our children in finding their way. Our hope is that our child feels comfortable in who they are and what they believe and follow the path they with to follow. We value the importance of respect, and teaching through example.
We absolutely love the life we have built together and we are looking forward to building our family again, teaching our daughter and our future child about their story. Giving them room to grow and become who they wish to be.
If it is your wish, we will happily share with you your child's growth, accomplishments, and adventures through photos, letters and visits. We are very open to keeping you informed and having your be a part of your child's life. We will always be open and honest with a child in regards to adoption. They will always know how much you love them and how hard of a decision you had to make. You will be a positive light in their world.
Thank you so much for considering us as potential parents for your child. We have been excited to grow our family and will devote our life to raising your child to be the best they can be. This difficult decision is not forgotten, please know you are in our thoughts and prayers always.
Wishing you all the best,
Nick & Debbie
