Our Adventures

An Adventure to Take Pictures of Mountains With Mt. Adams in the Background

We love to take road trips whether that is to the mountains, the coast, National Parks, rivers, or scenic drives to get fresh fruit from an orchard. Even if one of us has visited the destination before, we also are game to share it with one another again. We look forward to doing this with our child. We believe that it's better to see and experience a place than to just read about it. We also try to plan a trip each year to somewhere new, to experience something neither of us has done. We love wildlife, and are always eager to know what we might be able to see in an area and then get really excited when we spot it. Amber has quite the affinity for spotting elk, specifically!

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Enjoying a Gorgeous Beach Sunset

Amber About Curtis: I love and admire how loyal and wise Curtis is. His brain never ceases to amaze and astonish me! He can take complex technical things and explain them in ways that are easy to understand. He is wickedly smart, but doesn't seem to know it! I regularly describe him as calm waters, which is such a great quality in a partner and father, especially in the craziness that exists in the world around us. He is always learning and reading, and eagerly shares what he's learned with you. I love watching how he studies and considers things, and I can't wait to watch him share his knowledge with our child. He is so loving and committed, and I don't think I could have picked a better man to be a father to a child.

Curtis About Amber: I appreciate that Amber is patient and kind with everyone she comes into contact with. She is always looking for ways to care for and meet the needs of the people around her, whether that is a tangible need or simply an emotional connection. Amber meets everyone where they are. Her selfless and down to earth approach to life is simply who she is. Amber is the constant cheerleader to those in her life, encouraging and supporting them. I can't wait to see her lead the fan club for our child no matter what they pursue!

Our Life Priorities

We have a strong commitment to our relationship with God and this takes the form of daily spending time in prayer and reflection as well as reading the Bible.

We also prioritize our marriage, making sure we take time each day to connect with one another and regularly make sure we show that we care about one another and our individual interests.

We prioritize our family through making time for family activities and to be available to help in any way we can.

Laughter, learning and going on adventures is a huge passion and priority as well. We are committed to going on adventures as we live in such a beautiful corner of the world, that we want to take full advantage of it. The beauty of the nature around us, also connects us to our relationship to God, as we believe He created it, and it leaves us in awe of His power and creativity.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a suburban neighborhood in southwest Washington state. Within a few minutes of our house, we have a view of Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood, which we love!

We live in a ranch home with a backyard that is fenced in with lots of grass and space for play. We have three bedrooms, one of which will be exclusively for a child.

The Park in Our Neighborhood

In our neighborhood there is a community park and a trail that goes by a creek. We have a public library nearby which has a large section for kid's books, and we have a membership to a large zoo that's 30 minutes away, which we plan to use frequently.

There is an elementary school right across the street from Curtis's parents' home, at which a dear friend works and our child most likely would attend.

In our town, there is an annual festival called Harvest Days which includes a parade with lots of classic cars, parade floats, and fire trucks that come by throwing candy to kids. There is also a carnival and a huge fireworks display!

Our Extended Families

With Curtis's Family

Curtis is the 5th generation of his family to live in our small town in the Pacific Northwest. His parents live five minutes away from us, which is fantastic! His brother and two grandmothers also live in the same town as us. We frequently have family dinner and movie nights and go on adventures to National Parks, the ocean, and other beautiful destinations in our state.

With Amber's Family

Amber is originally from the Midwest and her family still lives there. She stays in regular contact with her family with multiple phone calls, FaceTime chats, and texts each week. Her younger brother Stephen and his wife Ashley welcomed a baby in 2021, and he is the joy of their family. They are expecting a little girl next year, and we cannot wait to meet her!

Our families get along great when they are together, and we feel we have a supportive, fun, and encouraging tribe around us, ready to love and welcome our child!

From Us to You

We want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read this letter and for even considering us for this honor. We have been thinking about you and praying for you and your family, and we are hopeful to begin a relationship with you.

Here's a little bit about us. We live in the Pacific Northwest, in a small town. Our house has a fenced in backyard with lots of space to play. We have a park in our neighborhood, and a few walking trails that are ideal for kids. We have a public library nearby that has a great kid's section, and we have a membership to a local zoo that we look forward to enjoying with a child.

We have been married for a few years now, and we are hopeful to welcome a child into our family soon. We are thankful to have a happy and stable marriage. We genuinely enjoy being together and doing everyday life with one another. We have a large family and friend group that is also excited to welcome a child to the mix. There will be no shortage of love and affection to go around.

The decision to adopt is one of the easiest choices we've made, as it is our first choice to grow our family. We believe that God has a plan already in place for our family to grow, and we are overjoyed to see what He has in store. While adoption brings some hard things, we also see the incredible beauty involved, and are honored to be a part of this story.

We like to take adventures to the mountains, coasts, and forests around us. There is such beauty in this corner of the world that we love to see. We're excited to include a child in these adventures, making sure they get to experience the incredible outdoors with us. We have a National Park Pass that we use frequently.

We are committed to honoring our child's birth family with our words and attitude. We will share with our child how loved they are by their birth family and adopted family. We are happy to share updates through letters, pictures, and emails as the child grows, keeping you updated on their development, achievements, and growth. We welcome the connection you will have with the child throughout their life.

Curiosity and imagination will be highly valued and cultivated in our home. We want our child to know that they are safe, treasured, and loved. When they want to learn about something, we want to learn with them. We will encourage them to be brave and also true to who they are made to be. Our home will be filled with lots of love, laughter, and nurturing.

We sincerely thank you for your time and consideration. It truly is our honor. We're praying for wisdom for you as you make this choice.

With gratitude,

Curtis & Amber
